Many of us motorists like to pay for our car insurance policy on a monthly basis because it has less impact on our financial resources. But there is a penalty with most providers; they’ll charge you interest if you want to spread your payments over 12 months through direct debit. The interest charge is ridiculous really; up to 30% with some insurance companies, just for paying monthly for the policy. So my advice is to pay annually if you can afford it, plus it will save you a lot of money in the long run.
